Mount View 1916-2016

Celebrate our community’s heritage by joining Linda Anne Sharp, WHMCA Heritage Committee Chair, for a look back 100 years to our community’s roots. Starting in the southwest corner of Munro Park we will walk through the original Mountview part of the neighbourhood and imagine what Mountview looked like in 1916, compared to the present day.

WEEDERS WANTED

“IN THE SPRING, AT THE END OF THE DAY, YOU SHOULD SMELL LIKE DIRT.”

MARGARET ATWOOD

If you are willing to smell like dirt, if only for a little while, please come and join us on Tuesdays at 10:30am to help weed, prune and add mulch to the Centennial Garden. The Garden is in need of a little attention, and some WHMCA members have committed to beating the weeds and over growth into submission.

Many hands make light work so come out and help if you can.

POTLUCK!

The third Friday of every month (September – June) at 6pm, the WHMCA hosts a family-friendly pot luck dinner. All community residents are welcome to attend. Bring a dish to share and anything special you might like to drink (coffee, tea, juice and water are provided) and come on out to meet your neighbours for some great food and ever better company and conversation.

There are toys and activities for children and it’s a great opportunity to meet new neighbours and friends.

If you’ve not yet made it out to the potluck but would like to attend, please come by. If you want more information, please contact Darla at potluck@winstonheights.ca. To sign up for the Potluck notices that include details of this month’s event(s), please use the eNewsletter sign up at the side of the page and select ‘Potluck’.

Interested in Starting a New Club/Group

May 25, 2016

social-groups

We’ve had several community members inquiring about shared interests and if anyone had a Club/Group organized. An example of an existing club is the Book Club, however there is the potential for many more!

If you’d like to start a club/group and get your information out there, let us know! Some ideas that have been put forward are, knitting, sewing, running and photography.

Let us know if you are interested in anything and we can help connect you!

The WHMCA Board wants to ensure that our community is a fun and engaging place to live, work and play – but we need your help. Finance Committee:
Members needed! Do you have a passion for numbers? Do you have experience as an accountant, in finance or an interest in learning more? Are you interested in the financial matters of the Community Association? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are who we have been looking for! The Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association is looking for volunteers on the Finance Committee. If you would like to share your skills and expertise with us, please email Don at treasurer@winstonheights.ca.
