Urgent Community Action Needed

Help Keep Massive Overhead Power Lines Out of Our Neighbourhood

ENMAX is again proposing large transmission infrastructure through Winston Heights-Mountview.

We are not opposed to critical infrastructure — we are calling for the line to be placed underground.

!

Why This Matters

These proposed overhead transmission lines would be massive structures, approximately nine storeys tall, running through a residential neighbourhood and near important community spaces. A previous tribunal turned the proposal down because all reasonable options had not been fully explored. ENMAX is now back with another attempt to move the project forward.

Community Momentum Is Growing

The Winston Heights-Mountview Powerline Committee has gained important support from private development partners, technical advisors, and elected representatives. Alpha Built has joined the committee, and major developers connected to Midfield Heights are preparing to participate as interveners in the upcoming Alberta Utilities Commission process.

We have also received guidance from Evan Woolley, who helped advocate for underground transmission routing in the Beltline, and Councillor DJ Kelly has publicly supported underground routing for this project.

Please show up, speak up, and submit feedback.
Strong community participation matters.

WINSTON HEIGHTS-MOUNTVIEW

Winston Heights-Mountview is a low-density residential community located along the west escarpment of the Nose Creek Valley. Winston Heights-Mountview has good access to the downtown, via Edmonton Trail. Most of this area was built in the 1950s around an existing core of older war-time homes. Winston Heights-Mountview residents enjoy close proximity to Nose Creek Park, The Winston Golf Club and the pathway system.

The official boundaries of Winston Heights-Mountview are Edmonton Trail to the west, Deerfoot Trail to the east, 16 Avenue NE to the south, and the lane between 34 Avenue and 35 Avenue NE to the north.
