TODAY! Santa Breakfast and Craft Sale – Dec 13, 2014!

Please join us at the Winston Heights Community Centre for the Santa Breakfast and Craft Sale on Saturday, December 13th. Breakfast will be served from 9:30 am to 11:00 am with Santa arriving to hand out treats to the children at 11:00 am. We will have musical entertainment by the Barberrellas, an amazing female Barber Quartet, as well as a few other local musicians. There will be amazing craft projects for the children to participate in.

Craft Fair Tables will be open from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm with a wide variety of vendors from knit and crocheted products to children’s tutu’s, pottery, jewelry, photography, cards and stationery, Scentsy, Epicure, Usborne Books, Stained Glass Artworks, original paintings, and much, much more. Get your Christmas shopping done early, and avoid the malls!!

Breakfast has been made available by the generous donations of Community Natural Foods, Tony Nicastro and Nicastro’s Neighbourhood Pub, Telus and our local Co-op. Thanks so much to these generous donors for their participation in our event.

The breakfast is free to all Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association Members, and at a cost of $5 for non-members. Memberships will be available for purchase at the doors for a cost of $10 per family.

A bake table will also be raising funds for community initiatives. If you are interested in donating baking, please drop it off to the hall between 12pm – 3pm on Friday, December 12 or between 9am – 9:30am on Saturday, December 13th. In addition to all the fun this year we are helping the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Food Drive, so when you come to Santa’s Breakfast and Craft Sale why not bring a non-perishable item to donate! If you want to drop off before then, beginning on Friday after lunch you can swing by the Community Centre and drop of your item! Not sure what to bring here’s a link to see some suggestions:

Mom’s Night Out! Nov 27th

mno2We’ll be getting together on Thursday, November 27th, 2014 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (location To Be Announced). This is a great way to get to meet other women in the neighbourhood for some great food and great conversation. Hope to see you there!

Please join us on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Winston Heights Community Centre from 6:30 p.m. for our Community Potluck! Stay tuned for more dates and times!

Bring a dish to share and anything special you might like to drink (coffee, tea, juice and water are provided) and come on out to meet your neighbours for some great food and ever better company and conversation. We have toys for the kids to keep them occupied and usually we set up a craft table with markers and stickers and big rolls of paper.

Calgarians are reminded to drive to winter conditions this weekend. Some tips for winter driving include:

1.       Winterize your vehicle, consider installing snow tires.
2.       Give yourself extra time to reach your destinations.
3.       Reduce your speed and turn on your headlights.
4.       Leave extra distance between you and the car ahead of you.
5.       Do not pass working sanders or equipment.

Fitness for the Older Adult

Come on out to the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre for Tuesday morning Yoga classes starting at 9:30 a.m. The cost is only $5/person and there will be a coffee and tea service afterward. This class is open to people of all abilities so come on out and meet some neighbours while enjoying a wonderful yoga class at the same time.

We will also have Zumba Gold every second Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Our days for November are the 6th and 20th and our dates for December are 4th and 18th.

Programs like these are offered based on community participation and response. Event: Annual Santa’s Breakfast & Craft Sale

Date & Time: Saturday, December 13, 2014 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: Winston Heights-Mountview Community Centre – 520 – 27 Ave. N.E.

Cost: 6’ x 5’ space

$30 for Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association members

$35 per table for non-members

Please complete this form and return with payment to Kim MacMillan. Tables will be held for 2 weeks after verbal/email booking and released if payment is not received within that time. We will provide you with a table (72” X 30”) and 2 chairs; please bring your own table cover. If you require further information please contact Kim at 403-831-0006 or by email kdmacmillan0@gmail.com

  • Doors open at 8:00 am for set-up and tables must be cleared and cleaned by 3:00 pm. Nothing may be hung on walls.
  • Special requests must be submitted with registration. e.g. electrical outlets, wall etc.
  • All food vendors must comply with City Health regulations.
  • If for any reason you cannot attend, please notify us as we do keep a waiting list for tables. If we are able to fill your spot you will receive a full refund less a $10 fee.

A New Plaque With A Little Bit Of History

This is the new plaque that has been placed in the Centennial Garden, which sits at the front of the Community Centre.  It’s almost anniversary time for us!  Come on by and have a look and then enjoy a walk in this great community while enjoy the beautiful scenery it has to offer!


Today – Rink Construction – Oct 18! – Volunteers Needed

Everyone welcome!!

Just like the snow hitting the ground early this year, we are already gearing up to get the boards on the ground so we can get the community out on the ice!

This season we need some more folks to come out and help us with the work (painting and putting up the boards, flooding and clearing the ice) but first things first, Oct 18th @ 10am we will begin putting up the boards!

The rink is an enduring asset in this community, but it takes volunteers to make it happen! See you then!
