Theft Alert!

Sweeper Stolen from the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association Rink

At approximately 5am on Saturday January 14, 2017 a sweeper (Ariens 24” sweeper, model 920014 with an NCE Enterprises Inc. decal) was stolen from the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association Rink.  This is used by community volunteers to help clear the ice at the outdoor rink.  The Calgary Police Service has been notified but any information to track down the sweeper would be great!

In the bottom picture you can see a stock photo of the sweeper.  Additionally, we have included 2 pictures from our security cameras, of a black truck of interest, driving into and then leaving the storage area:

Above: Truck driving in with decal clearly visible.

Below: Truck driving out, with what appears to be the sweeper in question high lighted in red.

If you have any information you can contact us directly at 403-681-9142 or by email: communications@winstonheights.ca or reach out to the Calgary Police Service: 403-266-1234

Monday, Playgroup Returns for 2017!

January 6, 2017

Playgroup!

I would like to thank all the moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers who make our playgroup a cozy entertaining and fun place to be with our little ones! We recently grew the toy collection at the community centre to make the children’s experience that much more exciting. Please come and check it out every Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

There will be a Christmas break from Dec. 23rd – Jan. 8th. We will pick up playgroup starting on Jan.9th.

We would also like to inform you that we plan on doing a regular ‘deep cleaning’ on the toys. We would really appreciate any of you who join us regularly to lend a helping hand. The cleanings will occur partially during the playgroup hours and on the second Monday of each month.

We thank you in advance for supporting the playgroup and our fabulous community!

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact Sarah at playgroup@winstonheights.ca.

Sandwich Board Survey!

December 16, 2016

Looking for feedback

Currently we have 7 sandwich boards. We are looking at replacing them, but before we do, we would love some feedback regarding location placement!

We are looking for a list of locations that would be suitable or better suited than the current locations. Suggest as many as you would like (current locations may still be the best spots, but we want to know what you think)!

Mayor’s Annual Food Drive @ Santa’s Breakfast & Craft Market – Nov. 26, 2016!

November 25, 2016

The Mayor’s Annual Food Drive, now in its 28th year, is a collaboration of amazing community partners and individuals that helps Calgarians in need over the busy winter months — all with the enthusiastic support of Mayor Naheed Nenshi!

By making a donation, you are making a difference in the lives of neighbours and friends. Winston Heights Mountview Community Association will place boxes in the lobby of the main hall and we encourage community association members, guests, renters, and other visitors to make your donations there in the next few weeks.

We challenge our WHMCA committees to find a way to make the donation personal. Perhaps the Mums’ groups could donate baby food or diapers and the Community Garden team could donate tinned vegetables. Facilities and Operations might take on soap and detergent and even toilet tissue. Send an email to communications@winstonheights.ca to let us know how you have taken on the challenge.
