Monday, May 28, 2018
Volunteer Appreciation – 6 pm
Annual General Meeting – 7 pm
Winston Heights – Mountview Community Hall
520 – 27 Ave N.E.
Every resident of Winston Heights – Mountview (WHM) is invited to attend our annual volunteer appreciation event. This is your chance to celebrate and thank every neighbour who helped make WHM a little better place to live this year.
Following that will be the Annual General Meeting (AGM). At this meeting, the WHM Board of Directors will discuss community accomplishments of the past year and provide updates on major projects affecting the community. The WHM Board of Directors wants to know what you think will improve this community. They want you to voice any opinions or questions you have had throughout the year and they also want you to elect your 2018-19 Board of Directors.
Are you passionate about your community? Do you enjoy helping your neighbours? If you are interested in becoming a board member, please contact Christine Johns at christine.johns@ucalgary.ca or by phone at403.510.9080.

- Work with the City to comment on proposed developments and to address traffic issues;
- Keep you informed about your neighbourhood via a monthly newsletter, e-newsletter, Facebook and Twitter; and
- Maintain the Community Hall, which includes four rentable halls, basketball hoops and the hockey rink for your use.
Over the past couple of years your community association has also built the:
- Community Garden;
- 7th Street Playground;
- Two demonstration Rain Gardens;
- Centennial Garden;
- and we are currently working with the City to finish the Munro Park redevelopment.
There are many benefits to holding a membership in your Community Association:

Reminder: AGM Special Resolution: Bylaw Update – May 30, 2017
The last update to our bylaws was made in May 2010 and over the past seven years Directors have, from time to time, recommended changes which this Special Resolution aims to address. These recommended edits are proposed in order to:
- Update Membership sections to reflect the current practice of Memberships being by household rather than by individual.
- Expand Associate Membership to include businesses and not just individuals who live outside the community.
- Allow a limited number of Associate Members to serve as Directors.
- Expand Conflict of Interest to include more than “tender or contract to be submitted to the Association.”
- Improve consistency of language throughout the document.

This plaque will be hung in the foyer of the Community Association building, where Bill contributed thousands of hours of volunteer time over decades.

Interested in Starting a New Club/Group
May 25, 2016
We’ve had several community members inquiring about shared interests and if anyone had a Club/Group organized. An example of an existing club is the Book Club, however there is the potential for many more!
If you’d like to start a club/group and get your information out there, let us know! Some ideas that have been put forward are, knitting, sewing, running and photography.
Let us know if you are interested in anything and we can help connect you!
