For the sixth consecutive year, Avenue magazine is asking Calgary residents for their feedback with an all-new Best Neighbourhoods Survey at AvenueCalgary.com/survey. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and closes Feb. 28, 2015.
Avenue awards the Best Neighbourhood distinction based on survey responses and data analysis. “We ask respondents which factors and amenities make a neighbourhood great, from walkability to transit access and grocery stores,” says Avenue editor Käthe Lemon. “This means respondents have a say in how all neighbourhoods, not just their own, are ranked.”
To develop the survey, Avenue partnered with Leger Marketing to create a series of questions that will determine which community characteristics Calgarians deem most desirable. The top-ranked neighbourhoods for 2015 will be those that best fulfill those criteria. Avenue uses third-party data, such as crime statistics and property values, when ranking Calgary’s neighbourhoods.
“With our Best Neighbourhoods survey, we are able to get to the heart of what matters to Calgarians about the communities they call home,” Lemon says.
Last year, Arbour Lake was ranked Avenue’s Best Neighbourhood, not only for its high level of community involvement, but for its proximity to public transportation, parks and pathways, and amenities like recreation facilities, day cares, grocery stores, pubs and a movie theatre. Ranked second and third were the Beltline and Brentwood, respectively.
Calgarians can make sure they have a say in the Avenue Best Neighbourhoods 2015 results by filling out the survey before Feb. 28 at AvenueCalgary.com/survey. Watch for the results online and in Avenue magazine in August.

ACT III VISION
We are a community of older adults who are working to enhance our neighbourhoods by developing a culture of valuing and respecting the wisdom and experience of older adults. We envision a place where there is easy mobility, safety, and services to support aging-in-place. Everyone is included and welcome. Embracing everyone in the community, older adults, families, people from diverse cultures and all those who seek community connections, we identify needs, hold meaningful conversations, generate enthusiasm and facilitate action to become the most inclusive and welcoming community possible.
