Adult
Nerd Night
A weekly gathering for dice rollers, card slingers, dungeon crawlers, mini painters, board gamers, lore keepers, and miscellaneous nerds.
A New Quest Has Appeared
We are exploring the idea of a weekly adults-only Nerd Night at the Winston Heights-Mountview Community Association.
Whether your weapon of choice is a twenty-sided die, a Commander deck, a paintbrush, a meeple, a Shadowdark character sheet, or a suspiciously complicated rulebook, this quest may be for you.
Because let’s be honest: making friends as an adult is basically a hard-mode side quest.
The Weekly Quest Log
Nothing is locked in yet, but the rough plan is to rotate through different activities each week so there is something for every kind of player, painter, collector, storyteller, strategist, and curious newcomer.
Trading Card Night
Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, casual play, deck talk, trading, and learn-to-play tables.
Tabletop RPG Night
Dungeons & Dragons, Shadowdark, one-shots, character creation, beginner sessions, and group matching.
Miniature Hobby Night
Warhammer, fantasy minis, painting tips, terrain, and bring-your-own-project hobby nights.
Community Choice
Board games, special events, trivia, tournaments, learn-to-play nights, or whatever the local nerd council demands.
Early Intel
The first wave of survey responses is promising. People are interested, and the strongest themes so far are Dungeons & Dragons, board games, learn-to-play events, and beginner-friendly ways to meet other people.
- Learn-to-play events are getting strong interest.
- 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM appears to be the best start-time window.
- Saturday, Thursday, and Monday are currently among the strongest evening options.
Shadowdark & Old-School RPGs
One thing we would love to include is a dedicated space for darker, faster, old-school fantasy RPG nights.
Think torchlight, bad decisions, dangerous dungeons, desperate dice rolls, suspicious statues, and characters who may or may not survive long enough to develop a backstory.
Shadowdark would be a great fit for short adventures, beginner-friendly sessions, and drop-in play.
No Experience Required
New player? Perfect. Never painted a miniature? Excellent. No idea what a D20 is? We can fix that. Haven’t played since high school? Welcome back.
- Come solo or bring a friend.
- Beginners are welcome.
- Experienced players are welcome.
- No gatekeeping.
- No need to already have a gaming group.
- Just local adults looking to share hobbies and meet fellow nerds.
Help Shape The Adventure
No quests have been scheduled yet. We are still gathering intel to determine what people want, which nights work best, and how often people would realistically attend.
If there is enough interest, we would love to turn this into a regular weekly program and potentially add family-friendly or youth-focused events to the schedule as well.
Someone has to train the next generation of nerds.
