Update June 20, 2025
Moved Indoors This Year.
As the weather forecast only gets worse for Saturday, the Planning Team made the decision yesterday to move the event indoors. We have now been in touch with market vendors and volunteers.
Many of our activities will still go ahead. Wild Rose Rod & Custom won’t not bring their vintage cars out in bad weather but talked about inviting the community to see their cars at their annual Toy Run (fundraiser for the Salvation Army), held at our hall each Sept. I will plan to write up an invitation for the upcoming print newsletter.
We may not have a bounce house – moms on the Planning Team were good to have it if rain was light in the afternoon – the rental company will make its decision. However, we have lots of kids activities like AIMFIT’s obstacle course, a putting green, lawn games and, if not a gale force, s’mores under a tent on the front patio. Butterfield Acres’ Farm Corral will go ahead in the North Hall with a large tarp donated to cover the carpet.
Entertainment will go ahead as planned in the Main Hall where there will be tables and chairs, smokies, hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips, wine and beer. And, we have 20 vendors in the East Hall who will be selling pottery, quilting, woodwork, desserts and artwork as well promoting their charitable organizations. MLA Lizette Tejada has a booth and DJ Kelly has a booth to talk to community members about his platform.
We were going to be co-guests with Riverbend CA on CBC’s EyeOpener tomorrow morning but breaking news has bumped us. I had asked Heather Fox to be the interviewee as she has been integral to the event’s planning, is a renter and is an active volunteer in the community.

Neighbour Day Fair, Noon – 3PM
On June 21, we will celebrate community with a Neighbour Day Fair. Planned for outdoors, a scaled-down version will move inside if there is rain, high wind or big smoke.
We have a Live Music Stage with the Brazilian-influenced Bloco Vivo, Trent Agecoutay (country) and Flambéry (soul) as well as a Demo Stage with CueSteps Round Dancers, Tecumseh Tae Kwon Do and more. There are lots of activities for kids featuring AIMFIT’s professional obstacle course, Butterfield Acres’ Farm Corral, a bounce house with slide, lawn games and giant bubbles. We have a Market with a mix of local businesses such as Caramelly, which will be selling coffee and ice cream, The Nicastro Group which will be giving away popcorn, Candy Man Cory will be selling cotton candy as well as vendors selling baking, desserts, pottery, quilts, crochet and knitting.
For a modest price, we will sell Master Meats’ smokies (with vegetarian and hot dog options). There will be a free s’mores firepit. We will have water and pop but encourage people to bring their own water container. There will be vintage cars. And, we have a Wine & Beer Garden.
Purpose: Neighbour Day began in 2014 to celebrate Calgarians’ generosity during that year’s flood. Events celebrate community spirt, kindness and resilience. They encourage people to connect with their neighbours and by doing so, create welcoming and inclusive communities.
Cost: Event is free. Modest cost for food and drink.
