Sarah Arthurs, Director - TBA

Yvette DuBois, Director – I first discovered this wonderful community in 1993 when I rented a basement suite while at U of C working on my Masters Degree in Social Work. 12 years ago I moved back into the community and in 2000 I became involved with the Board. One of my first responsibilities was to coordinate a volunteer recognition event. Each volunteer recognized was asked to plant a tulip in the flower bed that now surrounds the flagpole in front of the building. This was done to honour the ongoing spirit of giving that is inherent within this community. As a Social Worker I believe bringing people together with a shared purpose, celebrating the group achievements and offering recognition keeps a community healthy, vibrant and strong.

Lenore Eaton, Director - TBA

Christine Johns, Director – We first discovered the wonderful community of Winston Heights-Mountview in 2008 when we fell in love with a house in the area and decided to make the neighbourhood home. We love the walkable nature of the area, the great path system for biking and running and the beauty of an established neighbourhood. I joined the board in 2009 as I wanted to contribute to my community and help make it an even better place to live. In addition to the Board, I also sit on both the Development and Playground Committee. In my day job I am the Director of Planning and Reporting at the University of Calgary.

Mike Jones, Past President – After three years as President I am happy to step into the position of Past President of the Community Association. I began my volunteering efforts as a member of the Development Permit committee and have never really looked back. My wife and I moved into this community over ten years ago and love its convenient location and proximity to the downtown core. We also enjoy the social opportunities the community association offers.

DJ Kelly, President – I am a marketing and communications professional and I joined the board in 2008 because of my passion to make Calgary and my community an even better place to live. This passion can also be seen through my previous work as a committee or board member with Calgary Economic Development and the Calgary Professional Arts Alliance and an active civic advocate. I have been president since 2009. Prior to that I served as the communications director.

Hans Koppe, Director – We have lived in our area of for more than 12 years, and in this community for 7 years.  Our 3 children have attended the Mountview Elementary School conveniently located across the street. I was born in the Netherlands, and I have lived in Calgary since 1981. I have been volunteering with the Development and Planning Committee for more than 5 years, of which I have been the chair for the last two years.

Don Phillips, Treasurer – I have been a Winston Heights-Mountview resident since 2000 and a board member since 2002. I grew up in a small farming community in SW Manitoba – a “community” in every sense of the word – so I know and appreciate the value of “community”. The spirit of a community helps everyday people live everyday lives a little fuller and safer – from the sense of belonging, to the sharing of burdens and good times, to the self-worth of volunteering. A vibrant Winston Heights/Mountview community is a goal for me and I truly enjoy making my contributions. My reward is new friends, good friends and the pleasure of group achievements.

Alex Reed, Vice President -  Alex has lived in Calgary since 1997 and in Winston Heights-Mountview since 2003.  He was on the playground committee that build the playground next to the community centre in 2007, and led the playground committee that constructed the new playground on 7th Street in 2011.  He is an engineer in the oil industry.

Darlene Robb, Director – My husband, Martin, and I have lived in the Winston Heights-Mountview community since 1995. We have enjoyed volunteering over the years and I am currently on the Board where I oversee the Community Association’s volunteers.  Meeting other community members and forming friendships has been the gift of volunteering.

Carolyn Slipp, Secretary - It is with great enthusiasm that I am serving as Secretary for this very active Community Association. My husband, John and I moved to Winston Heights-Mountview in October 2004 and realized very quickly that it is a wonderful neighbourhood. Recently, I began tutoring two Grade One girls in reading from Winston Heights Elementary school and I look forward to working with them again for their Grade Two year. I hope to make a valuable impact toward this community and I’m eager to meet many more of our neighbours.

Mary Beth Walsh, Director - I have lived in Winston Heights for the last 5 years and my family and I love this neighbourhood!  For the last two years, I’ve coordinated the Moms and Tots group for the community and I really enjoy spending time building relationships with other parents in the community.  My husband Kelvin and I have two wonderful children, Lily and Emily.  I decided to join the board after spending time on the Playground Build Committee.

Sarah Whatley, Director - I am a Stakeholder Relations Administrator in the Communications department at one of Calgary’s largest Credit Unions.  Having completed the PR certificate program at Mount Royal University this past year, I am eager to use the skills that I have learned in a Communications capacity for this community.  My husband and I moved to the Winston Heights-Mountview community 2 years ago.  We love the community’s diversity and enjoy the parks, cafés and amenities that it has to offer.  By volunteering as Communications Chair,  I hope to help maintain the community’s vibrancy and diversity and assist in the storytelling of each one of its members.
